I am mind blown.
I had no idea how EASY it was to make homemade marshmallows. I have been craving marshmallows for years, but the ingredients in the store-bought marshmallows are absolutely terrifying. They’re loaded in sugar, bad oils, chemicals, and many other ingredients that you can barely read, let alone pronounce.
So let’s make our own, shall we??
What you will need:
Stand (or hand) mixer
Scale for measuring ingredients
Ingredients:
1 cup filtered water
40 g of beef gelatin powder (I used this brand)
1/4 tsp vanilla powder (I used this brand)
140g maple syrup (Get a high-quality maple syrup. A lot of store-bought maple syrup is just high fructose corn syrup in disguise)
Directions:
Poor 1 cup of filtered water into your stand mixer bowl.
Sprinkle 40g of the bovine powder on top
Add in 1/4 tsp of vanilla powder on top of that.
While that mixture rests, boil 140 grams of maple syrup (it boils really fast, don’t let it burn)
Once the maple syrup is boiling, turn your mixer on and begin slowly mixing the water/vanilla/bovine mixture. Slowly pour the maple syrup into the mixture, while increasing the speed of the mixer until it reaches its max speed.
Mix for 5-8 minutes, or until it is nice and fluffy (when you see marshmellow fluff, it is ready!) Be careful not to over mix. Over-mixing will add more air into the marshmallow mix and make them more spongy.
Transfer to a glass jar and let rest in the fridge for a few hours.
Enjoy!
Note: Our daughter and I made these together and she loved making them. So, if you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your kids, this is great!
I hope you all enjoy! Much love to you all. Let me know in the comments what you think of this recipe.
God Bless,
Taylor
